I heard one in norway ran on whale fat. And another in Kazakhstan ran on goat fat...
Thats cute but, i hope Reagan is rotting in hell wondering why heaven isnt trickling down to him
I thought the whole point was he made the time machine out of a piece of garbage.... Aka a DeLorean
And we ran it on fish sauce and it smelled like your mom's...
That model T showing up jeeps in 2024
Did not expect to see Steve Letto
Wait, what, how many friends do you have with over 500,000 miles on their delorian? really?
I live near Dothan
Chanel perfume has got to be the most expensive fuel of all time 😂
I really don’t think anyone in here understands any of the issues with turbines in land vehicles or multifuel engines.
Corporate greed is obviously holding us back. GREED
As an automotive technician, the Delorean is t the right choice for anything.
I hope they finish it! Its a gorgeous car and I'd love to drive it one day. Thank you Hagerty for creating this documentary
One Idea that.i hear is the turbine will come back as a backup to electric battery for range extension. The turbin could drive an electric generator.. There would be to throttleing issues like City traffic. A turbine can go at constant speed in the most Optimum configuration to generate power to charge the batteries. the intermittency issue is therefore solved by batteries. What do you have the advantage of long-range and existing fueling infrastructure
Gas turbine engines have proven to be completely unsuitable for automotive applications and actually a hybrid drivetrain makes the problem worse... both the power demand curve of the vehicle and the charge rate curve of rechargeable batteries are incompatible with the gas turbine and it efficiency and operating requirements. Its a nice sounding idea... its just simply not a viable concept in real world application.
Why leaded Airplaine fuel ?? This is unbelievable, the developers said unleaded…
While jet engines and gas turbines can and do run on leaded AVGas.. the Chrysler engines equipped the exhaust heat recuperators cannot, lead deposits would foul and clog-up the heat exchanger grids.
The problem was the inability to throttle. The turbines are designed for constant speed good for highway not so for stop and start like city trafic.
Gas turbines can be throttled, they just have very poor, sluggish throttle response. operating any gas turbine below 85% of full rated power wrecks the fuel efficiency... and driving constantly at 90 mph on public roads is not practical, safe or legal in most jurisdictions.
I rememberr the movie the livley set
I hear that turnine blads were going to be made ceranic to handel the high temperature gas. No need to go to exotic material.
Turbine blades are made of various alloys of stainless steel, they are commonly used with TBCs, thermal barrier coatings which are ceramic based materials.
Had Buick reimagined this today as an EV it would be a best seller
My opinion says they're telling the truth from their perspective. Hemi challenger required skills, so no ordinary guy could make one do what it was truly capable of. He probably got beat all the time just not most of the time which can lead to illusion of superior. Yea this car is legendary, namely because of the shaker hood thing.... Chrysler had to come up with a crash worthy one in a short amount of time probably spured by Godfrey's lawsuit. Thus adding more to their beauty. Hearing about the engineer for the hemi 426 was quite eye opening....
I see you Steve Lehto!!
One huge problem was/is that the car did 0 to 60 in just under 15 seconds. Its horrifically slow acceleration made it a danger on the road.
Wtf did they not mass produce that engine instead of all the others?
Perfect example of integrity.
Remember the guy who made a car that ran on water and went 150 miles on one gallon in 1996. He was poisoned two years later the car was stolen in 1998 and never seen again
And now we have shit electric cars
Time Travel in our Imagination, Timeless in Our Hearts ❤
Thank you all, for making this documentary. My grandfather, Bud Mann, loved this project and Chrysler for nearly 50 years. I love listening to his stories…he is the reason I am an engineer!
amazing that those guys built parts in the 50,s that cant be reproduced today with infinite finances and equipment
Most awesome car ever!
